Policy by the Numbers πŸ“Š Data, Lies & Society: Can You Really Trust the Machine? AI is already shaping decisions about education, rights and public services. But what is it learning from, and who gets to decide? πŸ€” Join UCL’s PPE, Data Science and SRI Societies for an evening on AI, policy and the data feeding them. Our speakers bring technical, governance and research perspectives, and we’ll open the floor for questions afterwards. 🎀 Our speakers Professor Wayne Holmes: Full Professor of Critical Studies of Artificial Intelligence and Education at the UCL Knowledge Lab, and UNESCO Chair in the Ethics of AI and Education. He works on AI, children’s rights and advising ministries of education. Professor Elizabeth Lomas: Professor in Information Governance and Cultural Policy at UCL’s Department of Information Studies. Her research on AI and governance covers how regulation has developed over time. Dr Vassilis Routsis: Lecturer in Technologies in the Digital Humanities at UCL’s Department of Information Studies. He works on research data infrastructure, data services and practical applications of AI in research. 🎟️ Free, places limited TO UCL STUDENTS ONLY All backgrounds welcome. No preparation needed, just bring your questions. πŸ’‘
