GPT-7 Bel Just Broke Mathematics: Solved 722 Long Standing Problems
We have some big updates, as the unreleased model from OpenAI, which a lot of us think to be GPT-7 Bel accomplished a big milestone in mathematics, as OpenAI has released 722 new papers, covering 372 results across 17 fields of mathematics. Also, Anthropic has opened the access to Mythos 5.1 with some strict conditions, and there is a new open source model from Mistral. First I explain how OpenAI published the new release, as a GitHub repository, how the model worked through roughly 4,000 open problems, and why Lean proofs matter. Then we go through what the model actually proved, from the five color problem and the number pi to the Unique Games Conjecture, Hilbert's tenth problem, and the new quasi-Riemann bound at seven eighths. We also look at what this means for mathematics, and what it could mean for the next model OpenAI releases, which most probably is going to be GPT-7 Bel. Next, I cover how Anthropic has opened access to Claude Mythos 5.1 through three new tiers, and who can actually apply. Then we see what Mistral Large 4 can do, what are its cyber security claims, what is its pricing, and how it held up in a real 3D test. Finally, I discuss various caveats associated with all these updates, and how to go ahead on this. Subscribe to the channel, as I will cover the moment OpenAI releases this model and track how mathematicians respond to these 722 papers.
