"Uncensored" AI model built to run on home PCs (Self-hosted AI)
PewDiePie just announced his own AI. It's called Ajax, it runs on your own computer, and it can handle your emails, your calendar and your web searches without anything leaving your device. It's not out yet, but here are 5 reasons I think it's worth keeping an eye on, explained simply. There are 2 things. Odysseus is a free app PewDiePie started a few months ago. It puts an AI assistant on your own computer: chat, email, calendar, notes and research, all in one place. Ajax is the AI that runs inside it. Think of Odysseus as the house and Ajax as the assistant who lives there. He didn't build Ajax from scratch. He took Qwen, a free AI made by Alibaba, and trained it to do one job well. 5 reasons to keep an eye on it 1️⃣ Your stuff stays on your computer. Nothing gets sent to a company's servers, and he says his app doesn't collect any data. 2️⃣ It's small on purpose. Ajax is 9 billion parameters, more than 100x smaller than the big AIs are rumored to be. Small enough to run on your own computer. 3️⃣ It says no a lot less. He cut down the "Sorry, I can't help with that" answers, but he drew a line at anything that hurts other people or yourself. 4️⃣ People are paying attention. His Ajax video got almost 2 million views, and Odysseus has around 88,000 stars on GitHub. 5️⃣ It's still getting better. Ajax tries the same task 16 times, and the tries that work are used to teach it. 🚫 The OpenAI ban One way to make a small AI smart is to train it on a bigger AI's answers. He used OpenAI's Sol, and OpenAI banned him. Twice. ⚠️ Real, or trust me bro? He says it works about 9 out of 10 times, but that's his own number. Nobody else can test it yet because it's not out, and he took the countdown off his site (now it's coming "when it's ready").
