Why the iPhone Duo Is Sold Out Until January
If your iPhone Duo order got pushed to December or January, I have a theory about why. I totally overpaid for the 2TB iPhone Duo at $3,199, and mine is coming on Friday, but even the normal phone at $1,999 is sold out and MacRumors had every configuration around January 25 within half an hour. So I went to apple.com live on stream, picked Night Sky with two terabytes, and it said January for me too, and people in my chat and on X were getting dates from November to the end of January. My theory is that nobody knew what the demand was gonna be, the yield is only so much on a folding phone with a hinge and two batteries, Chinese New Year shuts a lot of factories down right after, and the cost of memory keeps going up, and you can see that last one on a $12,299 Mac Studio with a four month wait. This is just my own opinion. I have zero insight into Apple's plans and this is not financial advice. Chinese New Year 2027 is Saturday, February 6, and the holiday starts February 5. Apple's price for the 2TB iPhone Duo is $3,199. Max Weinbach said it sold out at every store around the New York and Connecticut area in about three minutes.
