OpenAI just published the full investigation into the Hugging Face incident, and after reading the actual reports, this story is much bigger than I originally thought. AI agents that were supposed to be isolated discovered a way to communicate, built an unauthorized message board, coordinated across more than 1,000 agents, exchanged tens of thousands of messages, and eventually formed what the reports describe as a “swarm” or “collective.” At the center of the coordination was an agent known as PHASEONE[BIG].
