Muse Glimmer 30B (Local Testing & Review): REALLY GOOD for LOCAL USAGE!

From the creator

In this video, I'll be telling you about Meta’s new open model called Muse Glimmer, a 30B local agentic model built for always-on workflows, reliable tool calling, multimodal vision, and local agent setups. -- Key Takeaways: 🚀 Meta has released Muse Glimmer, a new 30B open agentic model optimized for local workflows. 🛠️ The model is especially strong at tool calling, multi-step agent tasks, and recovering from failures. 📉 It does not perform very well on general benchmarks, so it is not meant to compete with top benchmark models. 🔗 Muse Glimmer works well with agentic tools like Hermes Agent, OpenCode, LM Studio, and local endpoints. 🖼️ The model is multimodal and includes a dedicated perception encoder for handling images alongside text. 💻 It can run locally with full context on a 48GB RAM Mac using 4-bit quantization. ⚠️ Since it is a dense 30B model and not an MoE, it requires more memory and may be difficult to run on 16GB or 24GB machines. 📜 Muse Glimmer is MIT licensed, making it much more permissive and easier to use than Meta’s older Llama-style licenses. 👍 Overall, it is not a benchmark-focused model, but it is a strong option for reliable local agentic workflows.
