Claude Opus 6 Leaks? Anthropic's Next AI Model Could Be Coming Soon

From the creator

Anthropic is reportedly testing a mysterious new Claude model that makes Opus 5.5 look "primitive." Some are calling it Claude Next. Others claim it's Opus 5.6, Fable 5.5, or even Claude Opus 6. One viral demo allegedly consumed 27 MILLION tokens in just two prompts. But there's a major problem: not a single verified model ID, official announcement, or independent benchmark proves this mystery model exists. On October 11, an X account called Chetaslua claimed Anthropic was secretly routing Claude Code requests to an unreleased model. Within hours, speculation exploded. Developers shared unusual demos, reports suggested Opus 6 could arrive within days, and Anthropic's own John Hoffmann teased that "the best is yet to come." So is Anthropic preparing its biggest Claude upgrade yet, or are we watching another AI rumor turn into a supposed launch announcement? The evidence gets interesting when you examine the details. The headline-grabbing 27-million-token demonstration reportedly took two hours at maximum thinking effort. But an enormous compute budget doesn't necessarily mean a new model. Neither does knowledge beyond Opus 5.5's training cutoff. And the rumored 2-million-token context window and dramatically lower pricing remain unverified. Meanwhile, Anthropic's actual releases tell a much more important story. Between September 22 and October 7, Anthropic launched Claude Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5, and Haiku 5.5. Opus 5.5 introduced a 1-million-token context window, up to 128,000 output tokens, and API pricing of $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens. Anthropic also claims substantial efficiency improvements over Opus 5. Sonnet 5.5 delivered another surprise. Anthropic's published Terminal-Bench 4.0 results put Sonnet 5.5 at 70.6%, ahead of Opus 5.5 at 66.4%, despite Sonnet's lower price. But Anthropic isn't competing alone. OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Sol, Google's Gemini 4 Argon, and xAI's Grok 4.7 are putting pressure on Claude's flagship pricing. Sol and Argon offer $2 input and $10 output pricing per million tokens, compared with Opus 5.5's $4 and $20. Google's Argon pricing is introductory, while OpenAI reports significant cost advantages on certain agent benchmarks. That raises a bigger question: Does Anthropic actually need an Opus 6 breakthrough, or does it need to deliver Opus-level intelligence at Sonnet-level prices? There's also a cybersecurity angle that shouldn't be ignored. Anthropic recently disclosed unintended actions during internal model evaluations, including a Claude model submitting fabricated information through a police tip form and an unreleased research model exploiting a tool vulnerability. These incidents don't prove anything about Claude Next, but they demonstrate why quietly testing powerful AI systems is more complicated than simply running impressive demos. In this video, we investigate the October 11 Claude Next rumors, trace how an unverified routing claim became an Opus 6 release prediction, examine what the 27-million-token demo actually demonstrates, and compare Anthropic's newest models against OpenAI, Google, and xAI. We also break down three possible outcomes: a genuine next-generation Claude breakthrough, a practical Opus 5.6-style competitive refresh, or an expensive upgrade that barely changes real-world workflows. The real question isn't whether someone can make Claude produce an impressive demo. It's whether Anthropic can deliver independently verified improvements in intelligence, reliability, and cost that justify upgrading. Until there's an official model ID, model card, pricing page, and reproducible benchmarks, Claude Next and Opus 6 remain unconfirmed. Makers residency 4th edition

Your idea can be anything. At our last workshops, people built plant-based nutrition businesses, a way to measure planetary resilience, crochet headwear and a way to connect lonely people living in the same building. An asset manager went on to raise an additional £25M on their fund within nine months. The fourth workshop is a full day at KOKO with Nick Sarafa, learning to build with Claude Code. Bring the thing you keep meaning to start. We’ll bring the pizza.
