Can Gemini 4 Argon Replace Opus for Everyday Work?
Gemini 4 Argon just opened up, and I wanted to know if it can actually replace Opus for us on everyday work. I put it on two real tests live on stream, training a little robot duck in a simulator and making a new Mac app that talks to my Grok Bot, and at one point I'm not involved at all, because Argon is kicking the work off to Opus 5.5 medium. The app came back as a web app, then as a native app that works and looks so ugly, and then Argon takes over the clean up. Where I landed, Opus 5.5 is still pretty state of the art for me, and Gemini 4 Argon is really interesting and promising as the orchestrator, with Opus at a lower thinking level doing the coding. Argon's price on Google's pricing page is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens through November 30, 2026, then $4 and $20 from December 1.
