GPT-6 Astra in Codex: How I Got Access EARLY Today (AND YOU CAN TOO)
I got GPT-6 Astra running inside Codex using my own API key. In this short walkthrough, I show how I checked access in the OpenAI Playground, tried selecting the model in Codex, and switched from ChatGPT account login to API-key authentication. This is the process that worked on my account on September 4, 2026. You need GPT-6 Astra access in your OpenAI API account first; changing your Codex configuration does not grant model access. API usage is billed separately from a ChatGPT subscription. What I show: • Checking whether gpt-6-astra is available in the Playground • Setting the model in the Codex config.toml • Switching from ChatGPT login to API-key authentication • Starting a working GPT-6 Astra session in Codex Check your account: https://platform.openai.com/ Subscribe to Income Stream Surfers for practical AI coding tutorials, model tests, and agent workflows. 00:00 Checking GPT-6 Astra access 00:22 Trying the model in Codex 00:45 Editing the Codex model configuration 01:13 Switching to API-key login 01:33 GPT-6 Astra working in Codex 02:02 Quick recap and access requirements #GPT6 #Codex #OpenAI Try Bright Data: https://brdta.com/iss25 ## Tags GPT-6, GPT-6 Astra, gpt-6-astra, GPT6, GPT6 Astra, OpenAI Codex, Codex CLI, GPT-6 Codex, GPT-6 access, GPT-6 API, OpenAI API key, Codex API key, Codex login, Codex config.toml, OpenAI Playground, AI coding, Income Stream Surfers ## Suggested pinned comment Already have gpt-6-astra in your OpenAI API account? Switching Codex from ChatGPT login to API-key authentication worked for me. Let me know whether it’s available on your account yet. ## Editorial note Based on the supplied transcript and screenshots. The screenshots show gpt-6-astra in a model selector and in the Codex status bar; they do not establish general availability. Avoid FREE, access-for-everyone claims, and performance claims this short video does not demonstrate.
