Claude Code Just Become FULLY Custom (Claude Mods)
Claude Code just got a brand new feature and almost nobody knows about it: mods. A mod is a few lines of TypeScript that changes how Claude Code behaves or looks, and you don't even have to write it. You just ask Claude to build it, it hot reloads into your session, and it's live. In this video I'm on the latest Claude Code desktop app with Opus 5.5 and I ask it to make mods on the spot: • A live usage pane on the right so you can see how much usage you have left at all times (open it anytime with /usage-pane). If you're on the $20 plan, keep this open. • A session timeline, a project switcher, a files-touched panel, and a per-tool dashboard (Stripe, Resend, whatever you check most). • A full Excalidraw-style sketch pane inside Claude Code. Draw a wireframe, say "look at my sketch", and Claude reads it and builds it. Napkin to website. How to try it: update to the latest Claude Code, then literally type "can you make a mod?" and describe what you want. Mods ship inside plugins, so you install and share them with /plugin.
